Get ready for your California CDL tests
Practice the written tests and the new spoken English check, out loud. Every answer shows where it is in the California handbook.

Why drivers get stuck
Since September 14, 2026, California checks your spoken English: 15 questions and 4 road signs, out loud, in 30 minutes. Most study apps only cover the written tests.
Free apps show full-screen ads between questions. In some, one tap on Back ends your practice exam.
How it works
- 1Pick your testGeneral Knowledge, an endorsement, or the English check.
- 2PracticeAfter each question, see the right answer and the handbook section. Answer the English check out loud.
- 3Take a timed examSame number of questions and passing score as the DMV test. When you pass every time, you’re ready.

Questions
Are these the real DMV test questions?
No. The DMV doesn’t publish its questions. Ours are written from the California Commercial Driver Handbook, and every answer shows the handbook section, so you can check it yourself.
Does the app grade the English check like the DMV examiner?
It checks the same three things the examiner looks for: is your answer in English, on topic and correct? Then it shows you a good answer. It’s practice. Only the examiner decides if you pass.
Who takes the spoken English check?
New CDL applicants in California take it before the road test. Drivers stopped by the CHP for English proficiency get a test date about 7 to 14 days later.
Do I need an account?
No. You can start practicing right away, and your progress stays on your phone. Sign in with email or Google to keep it on every device.
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay once for 7 or 30 days, and the pass ends on its own. Nothing renews, so there’s nothing to cancel. Need more time? A new pass starts when the current one ends.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If you change your mind, write to support@otrcdlprep.com within 48 hours of buying for a full refund.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in the browser on any phone or computer. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app.
Is there Spanish?
The topic drills for the English check have Spanish hints you can show or hide. The questions themselves are in English, because the tests are.
